Self Determination applies to all human beings, and ultimately we are all responsible for our own physical and mental health.

This statement comes from a blog by Donald Wilson and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been thinking about self determination and exactly what it takes to adopt this mindset, with all of the challenges we face every day. Be they physical or mental challenges and no matter what the source. It doesn’t matter.
I think it boils down to this: Never Give up. Never, ever,
It’s your life, Live It.
“But Michelle, my bed is so comfy and I just want to pull the covers over my head today and not get up because …”
I hear you. Facing challenges can be hard, especially in the face of disappointment. But in the long run, I have found that not facing them is actually more difficult. Avoiding challenges can negatively impact self-esteem and they also have a nasty habit of sticking around until faced. Plus, it can be hard to sustain hiding out.
I know about this on a personal level. I’m facing a couple of challenges in the area of employment. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Is there a challenge you find particularly difficult to face? I can help you with that, so you can live the life you want.
